industry placement... m + c

i completed my industry placement with montalbetti + campbell in the 2nd week of the holidays. i was the 2nd assistant on a 3 day (34 hours!!!) advertising campaign for the japanese airline ana.

it was all shot in b2 studios in alexandria, sydney. b2 are located just down from sun studios and their facilities are fantastic. we shot there because the roof is quite a bit higher than sun, and as we were using a forklift for one of the shots the extra room was necessary.

we had a huge team working with us... 2 photographers, a producer, a digital operator, 2 assistants, a creative director, 5 client representatives, head stylist with 2 assistants, 2 head makeup artists with 2 assistants, 4 main models, 15 secondary models, a translator and im sure ive forgotten someone...

it was very interesting to see everyones roles and what their responsibilities are for the shoot. i was working very closely with the first assistant- markus, he was very helpful and told me about life as an assistant in sydney. i was setting up lighting, helping and spotting models on the trampoline, holding reflectors/ fans and running around doing whatever they asked.

the photos that we were shooting are for a few very complex composite images. we used a fork-lift and trampoline for most of the shots. using a trampoline is something that i would like to explore in a series or something.

working with m + c was such a great experience, they each have their strengths that complement each other and their chemistry on set is extremely intense, probably why it works so well. i had a chance to chat with them about what i want and random photography stuff, they had some great insight and suggestions.

i will receive an image after the 10th of may so i will post it on the blog when i do...

this is just an image to break up the text... i didn't work on this photo
